About

The mission of Hopkins Oriental Music Ensemble (HOME) is to share Asian culture with the Hopkins community through oriental music and provide Hopkins students with opportunities to learn traditional Asian instruments. The organization also introduces a fusion of different cultures and musical genres with arrangements, emphasizing diversity in an inclusive atmosphere. HOME includes talented composers who arrange music for the ensemble and gifted musicians who play traditional oriental instruments in the ensemble. Currently, we have the Guzheng, Dizi, Erhu, Guqin, Da Ruan, and Pipa. Students with any level of musicianship are welcome!

Instruments

As an ensemble, we play at various events on campus, and hold our own concerts as well. We always welcome having more musicians join! Check out the events link above to see info on our performances!

We currently have members who play oriental instruments including Guqin, Pipa, Dizi Erhu, Da Ruan, and Gu Zheng.

Composing

We have several composers in our club who arrange the club's oriental music. We play many genres, like traditional, folk, and even anime songs, so composers have a lot of freedom in creating amazing pieces!
